Grebe Club

Our aim at Crawley Mariners is to help you make the most of everything that learning to sail with us has to offer.

Our sea-faring youngsters and their shore-line support team develop skills that amount to so much more than ‘just’ technical sailing expertise.

The Grebe Club helps junior members to earn recognition to capture and share how much they’re developing as they make progress in their sailing journey.

We hope you’ll get a lot out of being a Grebe Club Crew member!

How it works

It is so easy to be a Grebe Club member. All you have to do is complete some of our challenges and join us at special Grebe Club events to earn your stickers – we’ll cover a different category each month of the sailing year.

So, what are these challenges? Well, being a good sailor or crew member is about more than sailing. It takes teamwork when things are a bit hairy out on the water, and problem solving with ropes, weather and equipment. It is also about making sure we look after the environment like the boat park and the lake. These are just a few examples, and there is much more: explore our categories ========>

We have a different theme for every month of the year with challenges for our junior team members to complete and the opportunity to join us at the monthly social.

When you complete the challenges, share the results with one of the Grebe Club adults to get the category ‘signed off’.

There will be lots of options per category over the course of the year. You don’t need to do them all, just pick the ones you are interested in or that you think could be good fun. Make sure you tell your fellow Grebe Club members what you have been up to and what you are planning next!

This is new for 2025 and we want the Grebe Club to be the club that you want it to be. So let us know the sorts of things you want to do and learn. And we’ll be recognising the most dedicated Grebe Club members at the annual CYMC Awards Event.
