Grebe Club

The Grebe Club

Our aim at Crawley Mariners is help you make the most of everything that learning to sail with us has to offer. This includes personal development as well as the skills and knowledge that supports both sea-faring youngsters and their shore-line support team.

The Grebe Club provides visible progression to fully engage with an aspiring crew that is also aligned with the Club’s core objectives and values.

We hope you’ll get a lot out of being a Grebe Club Crew member.

How it works

It is so easy to be a Grebe club member.  All you have to do is complete some of our challenges and join us at special Grebe club events.

So, what are these challenges?  Well, to be a good sailor or crew member is more than just about sailing.  It takes teamwork when things are a bit hairy out on the water, problem solving with ropes, weather and equipment, as well as making sure we look after the environment like the boat yard and the lake.  These are just examples, but there is much more, explore our categories on the next page. Grebe club will help make sure you can learn and practice all these things to cover all the bases to become a well-rounded sailor.

Then, when you complete these challenges, all you have to do is share the results with an adult at the Grebe club to get the category ‘signed off’.

There will be lots of options per category over the course of the year.  You don’t need to do them all, just pick the ones you are interested in or that you think could be good fun.  Make sure you tell your fellow Grebe club members what you have been up to and what you are planning next.

There is something for everyone including the adults.
